RECREATION

Thornden Park boasts plenty of recreation opportunities from walks to the playground to the pool and an exercise course.

SYRACUSE PARKS DEPARTMENT EXERCISE CLASSES & ACTIVITIES

The Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation regularly holds exercise classes such as Yoga, Tai Chi, and more in the Park. The Department also sponsors activities such as walks, kids events, and movie nights. Check out the Syracuse Recreational Calendar for more information.

THE POOL

The park boasts a large 50-meter pool and splash pad with parking lot. The pool is run by the Syracuse Parks Department and is typically open mid-June to mid-August. The Parks Department is currently working to convert the pool to saltwater. For up-to-date information on the pool, see the Park's website.

CARRIAGE HOUSE EXERCISE CLASS

Designed for all levels of fitness, a circuit-style exercise class is offered for 30 minutes on Mondays and Thursdays at 5pm. The class includes strength training, cardio, and balance work.

No pre-registration required.

EXERCISE COURSE

Located off of Madison and Ostrom, by the Carriage house, 5 exercise stations are available for working out whenever the park is open. The stations include chin-up bars, assisted row/push-up, hand cycler, squat press, and plyometrics.

PLAYGROUND & BASKETBALL COURTS

Located next to each other, the Park has a playground and three basketball courts. The playground has slides, climbing bars, swings, and more. Part of the playground structure is wheelchair accessible.
