Our Mission Statement

The Thornden Park Association (TPA) promotes increased community use of Thornden Park by restoring, revitalizing, and advocating for the park while maintaining its historic integrity.
Get Involved

Want to make a difference in our community? Interested in continuing our work to make Thornden Park one of Syracuse's prized jewels? The Thornden Park Association is always looking for volunteers to assist with park programming or to serve on the board. We meet monthly, ten times a year. If you would like to learn more, please contact thorndenpark@gmail.com.

Thornden Park Association Board of Directors meetings are open to the public. We welcome guests, though we'd appreciate an RSVP to the above-referenced e-mail address for planning purposes! Except in the case of conflicts with federal holidays, Board meetings will be held the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m., September 2018 through June 2019. Our 2019 annual meeting will be held on Monday, June 3rd, 2019.

Volunteer Opportunities
We need members to take an active role on both ongoing and time-limited projects. We would be grateful for your assistance with any of the following types of activities:
  • Planning and organizing Chili Bowl Fest and Garden Tours
  • Developing and implementing new fundraisers
  • Researching, writing, and overseeing grant implementation
  • Gardening at the Lily Pond and park entrances
  • Inventorying the park trees and helping with replanting efforts
  • Promoting and publicizing park events
